. ktvu channel reporter allie rasmus is live with the damage and information on how two people escaped the flames. good morning, allie. >> reporter: good morning. this fire started at:00 in the morning. now four hours later, investigators are going through the home trying to pinpoint what happened. firefighters are dousing the walls with water to make sure nothing flares up again. two people got out safely. more on that in a minute. first we want to show you the through. you can get a sense of how large this house is -- 3800 square feet. the size hans configuration of the house were both challenges for firefighters putting out this fire. so is the weather. it's warmer than unusual in vallejo and it is -- as it is in most pats. they had to bring in extra crews to relieve some of the firefighters who first responded to the fire. >> we went to three alarms on this. it -- it's a large house. it's an older house. my third alarm was to get crews on scene to help with the overall fire. >> reporter: two people were able to get out due to the smoke detectors. the father told me off camera, that

, this is ktvu mornings on 2. >> good morning, welcome to mornings on 2, i am dave clark. >> i am tori campbell, thursday, october 4th. we begin with developing news on the morning commute. bart has been experiencing major system-wide delays to the past two hours. ktvu's alex savidge is live there with developments. >> reporter: good morning, yes, this was a stalled work vehicle that had triggered delays earlier on. but that problem has been taken care of. we did just get word from bart a couple of minutes ago that all of their trains this morning are now running on time. earlier on the delays were significant. show you video of what it looks like here with video. a bart spokesman told us they were experiencing 40 minute delays on two lines from the east bay into san francisco. that would be those lines. this was because of a maintenance vehicle blocking tracks early this morning south of the mcarthur station. now that vehicle has been cleared out of the way but trains were backed up. everything started about 4:30 this morning when that vehicle that rides actually on the bart tracks itself came

coverage starts right now this is ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> thank you for joining us october th, i am pam cook. >> let's check weather and traffic, the secret word is cool. >> we have gone from 90s to 100 and there is a big fog bank out there and a very definite sea breeze for most, here is sal. >>> they are approaching the 580 interchange and also this morning traffic is doing well. getting word of a major bart delay also because of a maintenance vehicle stuck on the tracks we will have more coming up, let's go back to dave and pam. >>> two people were shot dead in vallejo and this started as a dispute between neighbors. we will have more on the suspected shooters military connections. >> reporter: we spoke to two neighbors who say the suspect and the victim knew each other. you can see a marine flag out in front and on the back of that driveway there are a number of bumper stickers on that car. they say this suspect is a marine, vietnam veteran being he lived in this home and when it comes to them they seem to get along. he was a long time resident and they know him well.

to mornings on 2 i'm claudine wong. >> and i'm eric rasmussen in for mike mibach. ktvu were the only ones on scene during that pole down. allie rasmus is there live with a look at the response and repairs. >> reporter: pg&e spokeswoman told me they hoped to have the power back on to everyone in the neighborhood. 5,000 people felt impacted by the outage. they hope to have the power back on by 8:30 this morning. you can see they have a lot of work ahead of them. this happened after that white car being towed right now. the driver crashed into that 45- foot power pole slicing it in half and tossing power lines into people's homes and yards. this happened around 3:00 this morning. initially when that power pole was knocked over, those were live wires that were thrown across the street. the wires aren't live anymore. they have turned the power off. and now pg&e and other utility workers are trying to figure out how they will put things back together. the female driver was taken to the hospital after this crash. but we don't know her condition exactly. but we can tell you 125 minutes ago someon
